Vishwabharathi Initiatives for Low vision and training

There are an estimated 2.5 crore children and adults with Low Vision in the country. Centres are proposed to be set up for the medico rehabilitative aspects of people with Low Vision. This would include provision of Low Vision Aids and Magnification devices as also supportive rehabilitative services. The main objectives of these centres would be: i. To provide identification, assessment, counseling and training with low vision aids
ii. To assist individuals with Low Vision to reach their maximum potential through guidance and improvement of visual efficiency by prescribing appropriate optical aids.
iii. Provision of or referral for appropriate medical treatment where necessary.
iv. To supply Aids and Appliances specific to the needs of people with Low Vision.
v. To provide training in the use of low vision aids for indoor and out door activates including for near and distant viewing.
vi. To provide Psychological/Social/rehabilitative counseling, orientation and mobility training etc.

Vishwabharathi Education Initiative

A child without education is like a bird without wings. Every kid has the right to study and they deserve our efforts to make them study. Here they don’t have any kind of exposure to secure their future. Parents don’t have money. They are not able to provide them with proper education. Kids are dropping out of class in 5th or 6th. Private schools are very expensive for them. There are no government schools over there. The schools where they are learning are having very poor education quality. Marginalized people belong to this area. They are not having a lot of options. They are having survival issues. People in slums also have a stereotypical mentality about educating girls. When they are asked why their kids are not studying and doing local work like their fathers they say that they don’t have money to provide them education. When kids are asked why they don’t want to study they say there is no meaning to study. They think that study helps for nothing. In the end, we also have to work like our father.
